The heater is made up of a coil of resistance wire wrapped in a fused quartz tube. The tube is translucent or transparent and has ceramic caps at each end to secure the wiring. The quartz tube’s translucent surface allows for a diffusion effect, expanding the range of emitted wavelengths without causing any visible glare. When the heater is running at full voltage, it emits a clear red color on the surface of the tube. This emitted wavelength range is effective and efficient for various industrial radiant applications as it is almost completely absorbed by the material being heated.
